Vital Information

Guests Attending our Ceremony and Reception

Please feel free to use complimentary valet parking at The Thayer Hotel. Buses will then escort guests to the Catholic Chapel for the Ceremony. After the Ceremony, guests will be bused back to The Thayer Hotel for the Reception.

There is minimal parking at the Catholic Chapel so guests are encouraged to park at the Thayer and use the buses. It will also decrease traffic and help guests through the second security check point to gain access into West Point.

West Point Gates

The United States Military Academy at West Point has three points of access. Only TWO points of access are open to the public. Please keep this in mind when traveling to any of our wedding events.

Open to the Public:
Thayer Gate
End of Main Street in Highland Falls
Stony Lonesome Gate
Off of Mountain Avenue/NY 218

Closed to the Public:
Washington Gate
Only Department of Defense decals and Government ID are allowed to access entry through this gate.

West Point Security

Every entry onto post, whether by car or by foot, requires security check point clearance.

Everyone coming on post must have proper identification which is either a drivers license, military ID, passport, or school ID card for younger individuals (16 and over need an ID).

The driver should have all identification gathered and ready to present to the security guards prior to arriving at the gate. Don't forget them or you will NOT be allowed on post!

Some gates have lanes designated specifically for vehicles with military decals only; be aware of your placement in the appropriate lane for public entry. If not military, you will have to be in the All Others Lane.

The driver will be asked where they are headed on post for example, The Thayer Hotel.

At the second access point, the driver may also be asked to pop open their trunk, hood of their car and all four doors to be granted access to West Point. This is for safety reasons, since you will be on a Military Post.

On Post Driving Rules

Military Police Officers are strict about following rules especially while driving.

Always Remember:

It is illegal in the state of New York to talk on cell phones or text while driving. Make sure you are using hands-free when making a call on post.

Speed limits are significantly reduced on post. Make sure you follow them or you will get pulled over.

Random car inspections may occur but they rarely occur. Make sure you are ready for anything.

Safety is the main concern for all parties on the grounds of West Point. Please make sure you take care of yourself and pay attention to your surroundings.
